Telia To Introduce 5G Speeds for Super Calling Card Customers

Starting from February 14th, all Super prepaid customers can enjoy mobile internet at ultra-fast 5G speeds.
5G is the most cutting-edge and fastest mobile communication technology available both in Estonia and globally.
In order for Super customers to benefit from the advantages offered by the 5G network, users need a device with 5G capability, and they must be within Telia’s 5G coverage area. Currently, 75% of the Estonian population has access to Telia’s 5G coverage, and the goal is to expand it to 95% by the end of 2024.
Miina Lillemaa, Telia’s Head of Customer Value, confirmed that 5G functionality will be activated for both existing and new Super users.
“Customers need not take any action; 5G will automatically be enabled for those with a compatible device, while Telia’s 2G and 4G networks will continue to be fully functional,” Lillemaa said.
According to Lillemaa, the decision to enable 5G capability for Super users was driven by rising customer demand for the latest technology. “An increasing number of customers are using 5G phones, and Super customers are showing increasing interest in 5G packages. As a result, now is the perfect time to introduce 5G speeds to our calling card users.”
Out of all prepaid card users in Estonia, 49,5% are using Telia’s prepaid cards (source: Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority data for Q3 2023), of which 85% are using Super prepaid cards.
Super offers starter kits for €1 and €4, and from there, customers can select a suitable package with data volumes ranging from 1GB to 200GB. Customers can easily subscribe to Super via the Super app (including purchasing an appropriate starter kit with eSIM) or at over 1,500 sales points across Estonia (for more, visit Stardikas – Super).
